Getting Around
Metro (the subway)
For most folks, the best way to see the attractions available in Washington is by the subway, or "The Metro." This great public transportation is affordable, safe, and convienant to most of the commonly visited destinations. The map at right is clickable. You can also find a pdf version here.
Taxi
Taxi's are an easy, if expensive, way to get around town. Unlike many cities where rates run on a meter, in Washington they are based on the number of "zones" you cross when in route.
Car
Like many big cities, driving can be a bit difficult in Washington because of heavy traffic and a scarcity of parking. It can be done, however, as most of the tourist attractions have some parking available and and almost all hotels have parking garages available (for a fee) to guests.
